welcome...

Alan Lees is one of Scotland's foremost sculptors: a true artist in wood.

His work explores many themes:- religious, wildlife, Celtic, maritime and historical subjects using all kinds of native hardwoods such as lime and Scottish oak.

His many commissioned pieces have included outdoor and indoor carvings as diverse as a deeply moving statue of 'Christ on the Cross', a 'Buddha' and a mysterious 'Green Man'. He has even created a walk-in wooden sundial for Kirkmichael Primary School in Ayrshire, designed for the BBC's Beechgrove Garden programme.
One of his best loved works is 'Tam and Meg' - from the poem by Robert Burns - a life size carving specially commissioned for the Tam O'Shanter Experience in Alloway.

More recently Alan has concentrated on private commissions, interior design pieces such as a carved newel post for a client in London, and smaller garden carvings in oak.

'The Time Man', was carved in situ from a fallen oak tree, one of many pieces created specially for Kelburn Country Park in Ayrshire.

Whatever the subject Alan is happy to undertake commissions for private or corporate clients alike.
